An Aging Industry
Over 36% of the reporting businesses have been in business for over 30 years, and 72%
have been in business for 11 years or more. Only 7% of those reporting entered the
industry during the past two years, an upswing from 2013.

A Positive Economic Outlook and Thoughts About Federal Government Support
The retail sector is less optimistic than year ago about the possibility of a business
increase in 2013.
Regarding the overall economy, retailers are a bit more positive about the overall
economy than they were a year ago.
With respect to Federal Government support, over 88% of the retail sector either has no
opinion or feels that the Federal Government does not support their business, which is a
shift from the 2013 feelings.
